After Super Bowl XL this month in Detroit, one of the most notable comments made by visitors to our fair metro region was how hospitable, helpful and kind Metro Detroiters were. Here’s another word to describe Metro Detroit; honesty.
Angela Jones, an $8 an hour janitor at Detroit Metro Airport found a purse near the Starbucks coffee shop near gate A40, one of the gates Northwest Airlines uses for international flights.
Jones immediately turned it in to a Northwest ticket agent, who looked through it trying to find a driver’s license or other form of identification. It was then that the two of them discovered that it contained an estimated $10,000 in cash.
Jones reported the discovery to police, and using the ID’s in the purse they located the passenger who lost it, just as she was about to depart to Tokyo to bring the money to her family in Hong Kong.
