The Pizza of Detroit
Off to go pizza hoping around town. “Whats pizza hopping” you say? About 5 or so of us will go from pizza place to pizza place around Detroit ordering a small pizza or a few slices if possible. We plan on sampling from a ton of pizzarias. Its like a wine tour but with pizza.
Later tonight we’ll be at McGee’s, so come on up.
Update: Pizza tasting didn’t quite go as planned. We may have to wait until spring/summer to do a genuine tasting. We did however go to several pizza places in the Metro area specific to Detroit: Niki’s (Greektown), Buddy’s (Sterling Hts.), Cloverleaf (Eastpointe), Buscemi (a Michigan party store/deli chain). Although we have insufficient data, so far Niki’s pizza is the leader.
There are so many more places we need to taste.
Any suggestions on Detroit-area pizzarias for next time?

What were your findings? I’ve found pizza in Detroit (and Metro area) to be lacking. Have to cross the border (with a few exceptions) for anything good. Would like to hear if you found something I don’t know of yet…

You should try Pizzeria Uno, on Mound at M-59 in Macomb County. Great pizza, great place.
