UPDATE: More changes have been made. Find more in a later post here.
I just received an email from WDET about the changing their program schedule again. Unlike last time, its for the better. They’re bringing back one of my favorite shows, This American Life. Also the host, Ira Glass, will be in town this December.
The downside to the new schedule is that they dropped The Listening Room and brought back Tavis Smiley. Thankfully, Tavis is only on once a week, now.
Out of curiousity, I’m wondering how many actual readers I have. If you find yourself visting my site or reading the syndicated feed, please drop me a line. Stranger, friend or foe, I want to hear from you.

With Halloween being less than two weeks away, I’ve started to get in the spirit by compiling a list of songs. When I think of Halloween music, it’s not neccesarily directly related to the holiday. For example, Oingo Boingo - Dead Man’s Party, Patsy Cline – Walkin’ After Midnight or the entire soundtrack of The Virgin Suicides are exellent songs for the season.
Although I will probably be going to The Bang! the Saturday before Halloween (BTW if anyone is interested in going, let me know), I still would like to make the ultimate collection. Who knows, maybe I’ll find a place to share it.
What songs do you enjoy to hear in spirit of Halloween? Leave a comment letting me know.
Doing this so late after I had the beers makes it a bit hard to comment. Anyways…
Paulaner’s Oktoberfest Bier
Type: Wheat Ale
APV: 6%
Location: Germany
Brewery: Paulaner
This beer had a great spice to it perfect for the season. A very full malt flavor. Smooth enough to have with a meal.
Lindeman’s Framboise
Type: Lambic
APV: 3%
Location: Belgium
Brewery: Lindeman’s Brewery
If you have never tried a Lambic, I strongly recommend it. Even if you can’t stand beer, I suggest trying a bottle. A lambic is generally a light, carbonated beer that is then added to a ton of of fruit (Raspberries for a Framboise) and aged. The beer contains several layers of taste. It is very sweet and is almost mistaken for a spumante. I was served the beer in a brandy glass as the bottle was 25 oz in the shape of a wine bottle with a cork to boot. Framboise is the perfect dessert beer.
Mc Ewan’s Scotch Ale
Type: Ale
APV: 8%
Location: Scottland
Brewery: Scottish Courage LTD
All I can say about this beer is “wow.” It kicked my ass. It was a very dark ale, much like the Elderberry Black Ale I mentioned before, however rather than the fruit back flavoring, there was a full on taste of what could have been mistaken for a shot of Scotch whiskey in my beer. I tried eating with this beer and it was a grave mistake. If you like the strong, dark ales this is a definite try. I suggest a frosted mug and to not take too long drinking it. Once it becomes warm, it becomes a challenge.
Yeah, yeah. I haven’t been writing much.
So what, you wanna fight abadit?
I swear I will. At least a new Beer Blog. I’ve had some tasty beers in the past week.
But now I must return to my studies.
