Less than an hour before I go home. Nothing really left to do (that can’t wait until Monday). Last night after work I came home, ate dinner then laid down only to find myself wake up at 11:30. It was a nice 3 hour nap.

Tomorrow I have to take my EPE at 9 in the morning. I never even attempted to review for it. I hope it goes well enough. Okay, I’m bored with this post already.

Stay tuned for a new website project.

Harry Potter, Blend, Tigers, Lauren

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

I just finished the final 30 pages of HBP today during lunch. All I can say is
….wow….

I would like to discuss the book with others who have finished reading it. I’ll spare you all of spoilers. Wikipedia has a massive amount of information pertaining to the series. I advise not going to it until after you read the book.

That said, last night I went to Fith Avenue with Lauren, Lisa and Eric to see Blend. I have to say, they are one of the most amazing bands I have ever seen. They do amazing cover songs, equally-as-good original numbers and have an unbelievable stage presence. They play at Fifth Avenue every Wednesday night. If you can, go see them at least once.

Tonight, we’re meeting at Niki’s in Greektown for dinner then going to the Tiger’s game. Eric got good seats through his work. Luckily, I dont have work tomorrow. However, I do have a compentency test at 1 pm. I wish I knew how to prepare for this test. We’ll see.

Lastly, but certainly not least important; Tomorrow marks 3 years of being with Lauren. Not sure what else to say about that, but I know I love her as much, if not more than I did on the 1st day.

“I Like Chinese” - Eric Idle

I had a fun, long weekend.

Friday was the 1st qualifying round for the karaoke contest at McGee’s. A good group of us showed up: Lauren, Sara (up from Chicago for the weekend), Lisa, Eric, Brian and Aaron. After sending a Dodgeball out, Sara D. and Party Bill showed up. And if that wasn’t enough people, Melissa, Gerard and Shelby showed up later. Lauren was one of the two qualifiers for the night. I told you she was good. Pictures soon to follow.

Saturday was a long awaited day. The sixth installment of the Harry Potter series was finally released. I’m 10 chapters in so far and love every page of it.

Sunday I was with Lauren all day. We said goodbye to Sara before she left back home. We then drove along Jefferson to look at the water. Eric and Lisa asked if we would like to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, so we made plans to meet at Shores Theater for the 9:15 showing. That gave Lauren and me enough time to get dinner at Logan’s.

I really enjoyed the movie, even if everyone told me all the jokes before I saw it. The Oompa-Loompa(s) were probably my favorite. I was very glad to see they didn’t cut out all the singing. Much more background to the story and, according to Lauren, it follows the book much closer than it’s predecessor.

Random Thought: I have a horrible craving for Hungry Howie’s.

A Few Things Before The Weekend

First, a Review…
For all you RSS fanatics, Pluck has been released for Firefox. Its everything I wanted Bloglines to be. I haven’t installed the FF version (can only use IE at work) but I assume everything is the same. Once I install it at home, I just log in and all my setting I made at work will be synched up at home. Like Del.icio.us, it also holds bookmarks and allows you to share everything. Go download it.

Next…
I would just like to say to the Pope that I will be receiving my copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, tomorrow. I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be in the confession booth any time after I read it, either.

Tonight…
Karaoke Night at McGee’s. I will be there along with Lauren, Lisa, Eric and I’m sure a few others. Everyone must come see Lauren sing. She is amazing. I’m not saying that just because she’s the love of my life, either. She is constantly complemented by strangers. Besides, who can resist Journey? No one, thats who.

Man, I love the D.

I love you, baby,
But all I can think of is
Kielbasa sausage.
Your butt cheeks is warm.

Okay, Back to work.

Not the greatest start to the day.

First, none of my alarms went off (yes, I have multiple alarms). The tv turned on at 5:45 as usual, but the volume was down. What woke up up was problem #2.

Last night before bed I decided to put everything from my laptop onto the desktop, a good 10 GB of applications, pictures, documents, videos, etc. So this morning, I was awoken by a clicking noise…That would be my laptop’s hard drive. It doesn’t look as if I’ll get it to run again. I went to see how much was transferred, 2 GB of stuff that I could do without. What wasnt copied, was 450 MB of pictures that I may or may not have backed up somewhere. For sure I have what’s on the site, but those aren’t full size. At least not gone completely.

And to top things off, I broke my dress belt. The buckle snapped, so its not fixable aside from getting a new buckle for it, but that costs more than a new belt.

Blogging, cause there’s nothing else to do here.

Work is horribly slow today. I need to have a meeting with one of my bosses before I can go any further on my project and he’s nowhere to be found.

To make use of my time, I started doing school stuff. I found what classes I will be taking in the Fall. If I could register, I would. However, I need to take two exams before I’m allowed to take these courses. So after countless tries, I got ahold of the testing dept. and scheduled myself for the CT and EP Exams. Luckily, I can take one at MCC Center Campus, the other is on a Saturday at 9AM. I think I’m going to ask the dean to override my registration status. That way I can signup for classes before they fill.

Looking for a job, come Fall. I really don’t want to return toHV. What I really want is some assistant job answering calls and such for one of the college deptartments. I only want enough hours in order to pay for gas and one night out a week. I dont care about saving money during school. That’s what this job is for. Speaking of, at the end of my term here, there is an essay contest for all interns about what I’ve learned. First place receives a check for $5k. Thats almost as much as I will make here after taxes for the Summer. For those of you who actually read my posts, heres your chance to prove it. Place a comment stating who is the better cartoon wife: Betty Rubble, Jane Jetson or Wilma Flinstone.

One Long Weekend

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Well after work on Friday, I tried sushi for the first time. Lauren, Lisa and I met at Eric’s apartment then we went to Dearborn for a place called Crave. I had the resturant’s own version of the California Roll; California Crave, and the Philidelphia; salmon and cream cheese. The atmoshpere of the resturaunt threw me, but I enjoyed the food. Once we got back to RO, we went to Pronto! for desert and finally to Bastone’s Brewery.

On Saturday I spent most of the day at home, until Lauren got off work. Brian came with Lauren and me out to RO again. We met some people for drinks at Pronto! then walked over to O’Tooles for a girraffe. Adrian, a friend of Lisa and Eric’s that I met on Sexual Healing Day, was there. She’s a really fun person to go out with. Hopefully we’ll see her more since she’s closer for the summer.

Sunday Lauren and I went to Greenfield Village for the DSO’s Salute to America. It was amazing. We had a few hours before the concert, so we checked out the Edison exibits. I’ve never seen/heard the DSO perform in person. It was a great experience, especially when they play the 1812 Overture with cannons firing and fireworks bursting.

Monday was spent at Lauren’s with her family. After lunch, we lounged around in the pool for 4 hours. I got burned pretty bad, but its alright. Lauren wanted a iced coffee, so we went to Java House before dinner. Dinner was HUGE. Her mom made 2 full slabs of ribs, a whole chicken, a dozen ears of corn, beans and potato salad. Mind you, there were only 7 of us.

I’m so glad this is only a 3-day week for me. I get paid Thursday then have another 3-day weekend.
