Ok, i did some pricing around.

I could get a Dell Inspirion that is satisfactory to my needs for about $700.
or
I could fix up my HP with a new battery and hard drive for about $250. This doesn’t gurauntee the end of my problems with the HP, but its certainly cheaper. Besides, my HP (although 3 years old) still has a faster processor and just as much ram.

If I was deciding between two new laptops (HP vs. Dell), Dell would win by a landslide, however thats not the case. The choice is between fixing up my high-end HP or buying a new low-end Dell.

Then there’s the option of buying(read: building) a new desktop for a couple hundred, but that forces me to buy a new monitor (My current monitor on my server is not an option).

Well, I think its finally happened. My Laptop’s hard drive took another crash….hard. I’ve been getting telltale signs to get a new hard drive for over a year now, but I’m one who like to take my investments through the longest beating until they finally die. Luckily, I have almost everything backed up. Only the things I’ve acquired within the past two weeks I’ll lose. I just went through the excruciating process of upgrading to SP2. I guess it was all done in vain. In other bad news, my battery has been dead now for at least a year. Not dead like it needs a recharge. Dead as in it will not recharge. I looked up the prices for one and forget it. Between the price of a new battery and a new hd, Im close to buying a new one. I just hope I get that co-op and that it pays enough to where I can finance one.
